Description
The PowerColor Reaper Radeon RX 9070 GRE leverages AMD’s 4nm RDNA 4 architecture and a 2790 MHz boost clock to drive intensive gaming workloads within a strict 2-slot, triple-fan form factor.
RDNA 4 Architecture and Compute Density
Built on the 4nm process node, the Navi 48 GPU at the heart of the RX 9070 GRE brings AMD’s RDNA 4 architecture to enthusiast desktops. This architectural shift focuses on improving ray tracing efficiency and overall compute density. The core is equipped with 3072 Stream Processors to handle heavy rasterisation workloads, supported by 192 Texture Mapping Units (TMUs) and 96 Render Output Units (ROPs) for pixel generation. For modern lighting and upscaling tasks, the card integrates dedicated hardware:
- Ray Tracing Cores: 48 cores dedicated to calculating real-time light bounces and shadows.
- AI Accelerators: 96 accelerators designed to speed up machine learning tasks and supported upscaling algorithms.
The core operates with a base clock of 1420 MHz. During sustained gaming loads, it scales to a 2220 MHz game clock, and can hit a maximum boost clock of up to 2790 MHz when thermal and power headroom allow.
12GB VRAM and Infinity Cache
Memory capacity and speed dictate how well a system handles high-resolution textures, complex environments, and dense geometry without stuttering. This PowerColor Reaper model features 12GB of GDDR6 video memory running on a 192-bit bus. At a memory speed of 18.0 Gbps, it delivers 432 GB/s of total memory bandwidth. AMD augments this traditional VRAM with 48MB of Infinity Cache built directly into the GPU die. This cache acts as a high-speed, low-latency buffer that keeps the Stream Processors fed with data, effectively amplifying the available memory bandwidth during visually dense scenes and reducing reliance on the primary GDDR6 pool.
Strict 2-Slot Form Factor with Triple-Fan Cooling
As graphics cards have grown in physical size, case compatibility has become a primary concern for system builders upgrading older rigs or constructing new small form factor (SFF) systems. The PowerColor Reaper addresses this by maintaining a strict 2-slot width. Despite the constrained thickness, it utilises a triple-fan cooler design to dissipate heat efficiently across the internal heatsink array.
| Slot Width | 2 Slots |
| Dimensions (Without Bracket) | 289 x 111 x 41 mm |
| Dimensions (With Bracket) | 304 x 127 x 42 mm |
At 289mm in length without the bracket, this card fits comfortably into standard ATX mid-towers and many compact cases that physically cannot accommodate modern 3-slot or 4-slot cooling solutions.
DisplayPort 2.1a Connectivity and Output
The rear I/O panel is equipped for high-refresh-rate and high-resolution monitors, supporting a maximum digital resolution of 7680 x 4320. It includes three DisplayPort 2.1a outputs, providing the massive bandwidth necessary for uncompressed 4K and 8K displays at elevated refresh rates. A single HDMI 2.1b port is also available, ensuring compatibility with modern OLED televisions and high-end AV receivers. Furthermore, the card supports AMD Eyefinity Technology, allowing you to span a single desktop environment across multiple displays for wide-screen productivity workflows or simulation setups.
System Integration and Power Requirements
The RX 9070 GRE communicates with the motherboard via the PCIe 5.0 x16 bus standard. This ensures maximum bandwidth on compatible modern platforms while remaining fully backward compatible with older PCIe slots. Power delivery is handled by two standard 8-pin PCIe power connectors, bypassing the need for newer ATX 3.0 adapter cables or specialised power supplies. PowerColor requires a minimum 650W power supply to ensure system stability under peak loads. On the software side, the card fully supports the DirectX 12 Ultimate API and OpenGL 4.6. It also features AMD Smart Access Memory, a technology that allows compatible AMD processors to access the entire 12GB VRAM buffer simultaneously, which can improve frame rates in supported titles.
