Unit overheats even while the SSD is idle, disconnecting the drive, and has crashed my M4 Mac several times. The fan is super whiney but I acknowledge I am fairly sensitive to high pitched, constant noises. It moves almost no air when the case is closed.
Applied a thermal pad between the ssd and the internal heatsink. After the initial crashes, added the second thermal pad between the internal and external heatsink. Contact for all is good, but no benefit.
I will try to remedy, so I don’t have to throw it out, but I shouldn’t have to jerry rig a product to use it for its intended purpose.
Hugely disappointing for the price.
