The VOLANS VL-DS50 is a dual-bay docking station that bridges older and newer storage standards, supporting both a traditional 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch SATA drive and an M.2 NVMe SSD simultaneously.

Versatile Dual-Bay Storage Support

Designed for IT professionals, data recovery specialists, and system builders, this dock eliminates the need for multiple drive enclosures. The SATA bay accepts standard 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch drives, while the dedicated M.2 slot accommodates NVMe SSDs across a wide range of physical lengths, including 2210, 2230, 2242, 2260, and 2280 form factors. It is engineered to handle massive storage arrays, supporting up to 20TB for a single 3.5-inch hard drive, and up to 8TB for both 2.5-inch HDDs and M.2 NVMe SSDs.

10Gbps USB-C Connectivity

Powered by a dual-chipset configuration featuring the VL822-Q7 and JMS580B, the dock connects to host systems via a single USB-C female port. This interface delivers transfer rates up to 10Gbps for NVMe drives and saturates the SATA III interface at 6Gbps for older mechanical or solid-state drives. Full UASP support ensures maximum read and write speeds by reducing CPU overhead and latency during large file transfers. Both bays are fully hot-swappable, enabling rapid drive changes without powering down your workstation.

Standalone Offline Cloning

For drive duplication without a host PC, the VL-DS50 features a built-in offline clone function. This allows users to directly copy data between the two bays at the hardware level, which is ideal for system migrations or creating physical backups. A dedicated progress LED array provides clear visual feedback during the cloning process, while independent drive status, power, and mode LEDs keep you informed of the dock’s operational state.

Aluminium Chassis and Power Delivery

The docking station is constructed with a solid aluminium casing and an ABS top panel. This material choice provides excellent passive heat dissipation, which is critical for maintaining the performance of high-speed NVMe drives and mechanical HDDs during sustained read/write workloads. To ensure stable operation when populated with power-hungry 3.5-inch drives, the unit includes a dedicated 36W AC adapter delivering 12V at 2500 mA.

Broad OS Compatibility

The dock operates driver-free across all major operating systems. It offers native compatibility with Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11, Mac OS 10.10 and newer, as well as Linux environments. Backed by a 1-year warranty, it is a reliable, cross-platform addition to any diagnostic or system-building toolkit.
